Journaling... I don't know about you, but I am so bad at keeping up on a journal but I have found a few strategies that have SAVED MY JOURNALING LIFE!
1. Find a purpose. Why are you journaling? I was inspired by my seminary teacher to write to my future kids. I have been telling them all about my life, trials, wishes, etc.
2. Plan a time to write. THIS IS A LIFE SAVER. If you set a time to write in your journal, you'll be more likely to actually do it. I like to write on Sundays around 8 pm.
3. Get creative. I like to give my journal some variety by changing my writing format. Maybe try writing a letter, poem, or even drawing a photo.
4. Write about goals, gratitude, and inspiration often. Consider writing about what you are grateful for or what some of your future goals are. Maybe discuss something that has inspired you lately. Someone once told me, If you write down your goals, they are more likely to be accomplished. Plus, it is super fun for your kids or grandkids to read in the future.
5. Start small and increase over time. I knew I probably couldn't write in my journal everyday, so I decided I would journal once a week. Don't set yourself up to fail. Start small and increase when you're ready to take journaling to the next level.
6. Last but not least, Keep a journal close. You never know when something will happen that you want to write down. Keep one in your backpack or purse and one by your bed. Maybe keep one in your car. Just have one close, it will help.
I hope that because of these tips, you will become better at journaling. Journaling is so hard but once you get in the habit of journaling often, it is so much fun. :)
